Cher is not heading down the aisle anytime soon, despite recent speculation suggesting otherwise. Reports claiming the legendary singer is preparing to marry her longtime boyfriend, Alexander “AE” Edwards, appear to be premature, according to a representative for the pop icon.
The 79-year-old performer, often referred to as the Goddess of Pop, has been dating the 39-year-old rapper and music executive for about three years. While their relationship has frequently made headlines due to their nearly 40-year age difference, a spokesperson for Cher made it clear that marriage is not currently on the table.
“There are absolutely no plans for a wedding in her future,” a Cher representative told Gossip List, directly addressing the growing rumors. Instead of planning a wedding, Cher is said to be fully focused on her professional commitments. She is currently preparing to release a Christmas single and is also getting ready for an upcoming appearance on “Saturday Night Live” scheduled for December 20.
Sources close to the singer say her energy is centered on her career and creative projects, rather than making major personal announcements. The clarification comes just days after reports surfaced suggesting that Cher was ready to make a long-term commitment to Edwards, regardless of public opinion about their age gap. One such report, published by the Daily Mail, cited an insider who claimed Cher had wedding plans in mind tied to a major milestone.
“She has set her heart on walking down the aisle with him around the time of her landmark birthday in May,” the source said. The insider went on to suggest that the singer viewed turning 80 as a meaningful moment for the couple to formalize their relationship.

“She sees her upcoming celebration at turning 80 as the perfect time for her and Alexander to seal the deal,” the source added. The same insider also addressed criticism surrounding the couple’s age difference, claiming it has never been a concern for either of them. “Cher doesn’t give a hoot about their age difference, and they’re both ready to commit to each other,” the source said.
While marriage may not be part of Cher’s immediate plans, she has consistently spoken warmly about Edwards and their bond. During a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, the singer opened up about her feelings for her boyfriend and how she views their relationship.
“You know, you get older, but your spirit is younger. I just love him. I think he’s beautiful and he’s really talented,” Cher said during the interview, offering a glimpse into why the relationship has worked for her. She also addressed the online chatter and criticism that often follows her and Edwards, particularly regarding their age difference.
Rather than letting outside opinions weigh her down, Cher made it clear she prioritizes her own happiness. “They’re not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us. We just have a blast,” she said. Cher and Edwards have appeared together at public events and on social media, often presenting a united and affectionate front.
Even so, those close to the singer suggest she is in no rush to redefine their relationship with marriage. For now, Cher appears content balancing a high-profile romance with a career that continues to evolve well into her late seventies.
As rumors swirl and are quickly shut down, one thing remains clear. Cher is moving at her own pace, focused on what brings her joy, both personally and professionally, and marriage is not currently part of that plan.
