Authorities in Portland are asking for the public’s help in locating a 25-year-old woman who was last seen on Christmas Eve and is believed to be experiencing a serious medical issue.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, Lauren Deering was last seen around 10 p.m. on Dec. 24 at her apartment near Southeast Woodward Street. Detectives say her disappearance is especially concerning because investigators believe she may be suffering from an acute medical condition that could place her in danger if she does not receive assistance.

Police have not released details about the specific nature of the medical concern, but emphasized that time may be critical. As a result, officers are urging anyone who may have seen Deering or has information about her whereabouts to come forward immediately.

Deering is described as white, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, and weighing about 140 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. No information has been released about what she was wearing when she was last seen, nor whether she may have left on foot or by vehicle.

The case has been classified as a missing person investigation, and officers say they are actively following up on leads. Detectives are canvassing the area near Deering’s apartment and reviewing any information that could help piece together her movements after she was last seen on Christmas Eve.

Southeast Portland neighborhoods tend to be quieter late on Christmas Eve, which can make tracking sightings more difficult. Police are therefore relying heavily on the public, including neighbors, business owners, and anyone who may have been in the area that night, to help fill in gaps.

Authorities stress that anyone who sees Deering should not wait to report it. Anyone who encounters her or believes they have spotted her is asked to call 911 immediately so officers can respond and ensure she receives medical attention if needed.

For those with information that is not time-sensitive or does not require an immediate police response, investigators ask that tips be sent via email to [email protected]
. When contacting police, the public is asked to reference case number 25-352056 to ensure the information is routed to the correct investigators.

Police did not say whether foul play is suspected, but noted that there is no indication at this time that a crime has occurred. The primary concern, they say, is Deering’s health and safety.

Missing person cases involving potential medical emergencies are treated with urgency, particularly during winter months when cold temperatures and limited daylight can increase risk. Officers emphasized that even small details, such as seeing someone matching Deering’s description walking, entering a business, or asking for help, could be significant.

Friends, family members, and community members are also encouraged to share verified information from police in order to raise awareness, while avoiding speculation that could complicate the investigation.

As the search continues, authorities remain hopeful that Deering will be located quickly and safely. Police said updates will be released if new information becomes available and reiterated that public assistance can play a crucial role in resolving cases like this.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Portland Police Bureau as soon as possible.
