The San Antonio Spurs won their latest NBA game, defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 117-102 on Thursday at the Paycom Center. This is the third time in less than two weeks that San Antonio has defeated Oklahoma City, further solidifying the Spurs as one of the hottest teams in the league.

De’Aaron Fox, a Sacramento Kings guard, scored 29 points in a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. San Antonio defeated Oklahoma City in the NBA Cup semifinals on December 13 and will travel to Oklahoma City early this week. The teams will meet again on January 13 in Oklahoma City.

The Spurs improved to a 23-7 record, extending their winning streak to eight games. They shot an efficient 53.6% from the field and clamped down on defense, holding the Thunder to just 38.9% shooting. According to a report by NBC4 Washington, the number of fires in Oklahoma City has increased significantly this season.

Victor Wembanyama excelled in two-way play, scoring 19 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Stephon Castle added 19 points and seven assists, giving San Antonio plenty of offensive weapons alongside Fox. The Spurs’ balance and ball movement proved difficult for Oklahoma City to handle all night.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are near the top of the Western Conference rankings, while San Antonio has risen rapidly. Despite their position, the Thunder struggled against the Spurs on this occasion.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 22 points for Oklahoma City, although the reigning MVP had an inefficient night, making only 7 of 19 shots from the field. He still reached at least 20 points for the 102nd consecutive game, underscoring his consistency.

Isaiah Hartenstein posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Chet Holmgren had 10 points and 12 rebounds. Oklahoma City lacked its opening rhythm for most of the game, especially after the first few minutes.

The Thunder started strong, making their first seven field goals to jump to an 18-12 lead. Fox quickly responded, attacking the rim and controlling the pace. He scored 21 of his 29 points in the first half, helping the Spurs flip the game and enter halftime with a 69-60 advantage.

San Antonio gained control in the third quarter. They built an 85-68 lead against Oklahoma City. Dylan Harper’s dunk in the fourth quarter gave the Spurs a 91-74 lead, and they maintained their advantage.

San Antonio never looked back. They kept their composure, continued to knock down shots, and limited the Thunder’s transition opportunities. Oklahoma City could not put together a sustained run, and the Spurs comfortably closed out the game.

The loss dropped Oklahoma City to a 2-4 record in its last six games after opening the season with a dominant streak. All three of those recent losses have come against San Antonio. While the Thunder are among the league’s finest, they are experiencing difficulties in this specific matchup.

The Spurs are currently dominating the season series, and Fox’s performance served as the latest reminder that the Spurs are not just future contenders but a serious threat to anyone in their path.
